Happy (Belated) Chinese New Year
28Jan09
A very happy year of the ox to everyone. As long-time readers know I spend a good part of the year in Asia and am here for the festivities (and eating) and visiting the Other’s family (and eating) and writing this blog post (while eating).
Posting will be light in the near future, but if you’re looking to get your fix of stock market geekery, checkout my list of favorite past MarketSci Blog posts.

Happy New Year, Michael.

Thanks for all the great information on your blog.
BTW, Asia is a big place, what part of it are you in?

RE to yougalouga:
HONG BAO NA LAI
[it's scary how many people here can write roma pinyin]
RE to Josh: hello Josh in Beijing – I’m in Taipei at the moment. Damn, the secret is out. It was so much more exotic and mysterious when I just said asia.
P.S. My written chinese is horrific, but I’m guessing the Happy Niu Year was a play on words? Very clever. I’m going to try it out on the Other.
I can’t take credit for the Happy 牛 Year saying. It is all over (TV, SMS, etc) here in the Mainland.
One more note on a China theme, your blog is blocked here, so I have to read it through a proxy server. But it is well worth the time and trouble.
RE to Josh: I’ve heard that before about the MarketSci.com site. That’s the first I heard the blog was blocked as well. Any idea why? Or how to get it off the hitlist?
One more question – I’m going to be going to the mainland sometime in February. Is this whole proxy server solution difficult to figure out?
Thanks for any thoughts you have. I’m actually glad you mentioned that or I would have been in for a surprise when I got to the mainland and couldn’t get to the blog.
