20090709.01I’m going to be doing a MarketSci-style review of Larry Connors’ new book High Probability ETF Trading.

By “MarketSci-style” I mean I’ll be putting Larry’s specific rules to the test and showing/discussing the historical results on the type of assets that we focus on (actively-traded mutual funds when possible, but ETFs otherwise, covering broad based indices).

Note that, to protect Larry’s work I won’t be talking about specific rules (for that you’ll have to buy his book), but we will try to give a general idea of what each strategy is doing. Larry does good work, and is one of the very few who take a real quantitative-approach to swing trading sans-hype. I hope that we’re able to send a few book sales his way as a result.

Last note: I did a pretty thorough review of Larry’s TradingMarket.com 10 Trading Rules back in January that I recommend readers take a peek at. There will be some overlap between this analysis and that one.

You will find that Connors rules are very specific to his list of ETFs.

Excellent! I just read the book last night and can’t wait to see your take.

It’s a concise book, there’s no doubt about it. Simple as it seems, I think there’s a lot to be said about that. I’ve dabbled in trading, and think I might be willing to put more of my own money into the market if there were more books like this one. The book makes a strong case for why ETFs have strong potential for growth, the instructions are incredibly simple, and there are no fantastic claims to getting rich quick.

Are there any other ETF books that you or people reading this can recommend me?

I have been trying to reproduce the results from this book with my own backtests. Having completed the first two chapters, and done backtest, I have found nowhere near the probability or positive results that Larry has found. Would love to hear if others have done any of the same.

Its a good book , good ideas , but the thing is i tried his approach, its very very hard to get fill at the levels he recommends . As a matter of fact i took the battle plan trial and i waited for 9 days and didnt get filled even single day .May be I caught the two lousy weeks
