Happy First Birthday MarketSci Blog

09Aug09

20090809.01I got so tied up in the geekery that I didn’t even notice that our little blog had its first birthday last month (just ask the Other…she’ll tell you I’ve been known to do this from time-to-time).

The biggest lesson learned from blogging over the last year is the same as I wrote at the end of 2008. I know it’s cliche, but without a doubt, blogging has made me a better trader.

Below is a look at the most popular posts since the blog’s launch. If the post was part of a series, I’ve included a link to the series as well.

1. Moving Average Crossovers Debunked? (part of series)
2. Trading with RSI(2) (+ follow up)
3. 5-10-20 Trend-Following Strategy (part of series)
4. Why Short-term Mean-Reversion is Becoming Stronger (part of series)

My fave blog… congrats on one year, Michael!

MarketSci is a great source of ideas and discussion, but a fundamental difference… you’re running strategies live on TimerTrac this whole time. No testimonials. No “Hey, I was up 4% this week”. No “I think this is the top, unless…” blah blah.

MarketSci walks the walk by having a stable of algorithms that are already in use by real people and are independently verified in real time. I only wonder why other investment blogs do likewise. On second thought, no I don’t.

    Thanks, Michael.
    yow, bill

Awesome comment Bill – my hope is that at the end of the day people say “he put himself out on the limb more than most” – thanks for the kind words. yow, michael

    hi michael,
has marketsci.com modified it strategies for the original marketsci system for profunds to take into account a losing 2008?

    thanks

Samir – not sure I understand your question. The original MarketSci strategy looks more or less the same today as when it launched (unlike YK and Scotty it isn’t adaptive). michael

    i whole-heartedly agree with Bill,
    intelligent and thought provoking analysis.
more importantly, providing a gaggle of good stuff to ponder about and analyze.
Keep it up, and best wishes..

  6. My congratulations too! I appreciate your work — and even more your willingness to share it.
